This is a new album I'm working on wherein I sing several of the old hymns I grew up hearing in my Granny and Grandad's church.  I didn't realize how much a part of me these melodies and lyrics were until I started going back and singing these arrangements again.  My grandmother, Marie Travis, passed away on December 13, 2011, and she loved to hear me do these, so I thought this would be a good time to make this album as a tribute to her.

I already recorded an album called "Favorite Hymns" where I played these songs in the Southern Gospel style of my dad, but this album is more my own arrangements that I developed over the years.  Plus, that album was just instrumental piano, where as I sing and play on this one.

The album cover above is in progress, but the church in the picture is the one where I went every Sunday while I was growing up... a little church out in the country, just down the road from Granny and Grandad's house.

I'm very tempted to put all kinds of cool sounds on this album, but I've decided to keep it to what I can do live... just playing the piano and singing.  I think that makes it more authentic.

I've always thought this song had a special type of spirituality... "I come to the garden alone."  This is the second song for my new hymns album.

This is the first song for a new album I'm working on wherein I'm singing several of the old hymns I grew up with.  "Because He Lives" has always been one of my favorites.
